Is A Second Trump Presidency The Karmic Destiny of the United States? An Astrological Perspective

With just one week having passed since the US Presidential election, every pundit on the planet has an opinion on why Kamala Harris and the Democrats were unable to stop the red wave that is sending Donald Trump back to the White House. Some say Harris didn't do enough to break from Biden's policies. Others say she simply didn't have enough time to introduce herself to the electorate.

Democrats were unhappy they didn't have an open primary. She (and the Democratic party) had gone too far left. She went too far to the right by embracing Republicans. Or maybe it was sexism. Or racism. Or... Or... Or...

    I have a different theory.

Was It Fate That Brought Them Together?

You don't have to know a lot about astrology to notice a pattern in this overlay of Donald Trump's natal chart to the chart of the the United States. Not only are there a significant number of planets conjoined in the two charts, many of them are important Karmic indicators, leading me to believe there is an element of fate at work in this win.

Before I get into the particulars, let me give you some background on the Karma found in the individual charts.

The Collective Karma In The Chart Of The United States

Back in June of 2020, I wrote this post about the Karmic Destiny of the United States, through the lens of its Pluto Return, a once every 248-year astrological event. The election occurred at the tail end of this important transit.

In the US chart, Pluto sits at 27 degrees Capricorn. It's one of two Retrograde Planets in the Unites States chart.

The United States Sibley Astrological Chart

When I'm analyzing the Karma in someone's natal chart, I read Retrograde Planets as a need for a do-over. In other words, the specific energy of the Retrograde Planet was used improperly in a previous incarnation. The goal is to clear the Karma, often by having to face the dilemma again in this lifetime, and to learn from the challenge in order to redirect the energy positively.

When looking to the chart of a nation, Retrograde Planets point to suppressed or unactivated energies in the collective consciousness of its citizens.

In Mundane Astrology, the type of astrology used to interpret the charts of countries, Pluto represents collective resources like banks, the stock market, and sources of energy. It also provides insight into the collective shadow of its citizens, which includes things like conspiracy theories and mob mentality.

When Retrograde, Pluto points to the issues that must be resolved around what it means to wield power, as well as the collective's relationship with truth.

The other Retrograde Planet in the US chart is Mercury at 24 degrees Cancer.

You may have heard that it's not a good idea to sign legal documents when Mercury is Retrograde. It's too bad our Founding Fathers weren't aware of this.

In the chart of a nation, Mercury represents its voice in the form of media channels, literature, and educators. In terms of the collective, Mercury is an indicator of a nation's ideology.

When Mercury is Retrograde, communications tend to be incomplete, and the collective may prefer to skim the surface rather than study a topic in depth. Mercury's mythological embodiment as the trickster is a fitting archetype for how the planetary energy plays out in the US chart.

The two Retrogrades, Pluto and Mercury, form an opposition from the 2nd House to the 8th House. The significance of the house placements for these opposing retrograde planets is definitely worth mentioning. Rx Pluto sits in the 2nd House of security and survival. The second house also governs the distribution of resources and wealth among the population. The 8th house, where Rx Mercury resides, rules taxes, financial relations with other nations, and most importantly, situations of inequality or feelings of oppression.

Put it all together and we see a nation where wealth is the arbiter of power, truth is not always based on fact, and the collective looks outside of itself to decide what to believe.

    "Only I Can Fix It"

One of the more significant Karmic markers in Donald Trump's natal chart is Saturn in Cancer in his 11th House. Saturn is known as the Lord of Karma. It represents a fear rooted in past incarnations, as well as our most important task for this lifetime.

    Natal Chart of Donald Trump

Cancer is the sign of family and home life. Saturn in Cancer indicates a past life fear of emotional attachments, particular in the family. In the bigger picture, it reveals difficulty feeling at home in the place of birth.

Much has been written about President Trump's uneasy relationship with his father. Whether he's resolved this aspect of his Karma by being a better parent to his own children concerns me less than his ongoing disparagement of the place we all call home. He has called the US a failing nation, painting a dystopian picture of a country where you can get killed just going out to buy a loaf of bread. As recently as last month, he called the US a ‘garbage can for the world.’

In his campaign speeches exaggerating the problems of crime, illegal immigration, and the state of the economy, he has repeated, "Only I can fix it."

President Trump's Saturn in the 11th house points to past lives where he experienced intolerance, dogmatism, and a lack of trust in his fellow humans. He came into this lifetime feeling insecure, and unable to make supportive connections. Add in Leo on his 12th House cusp (previous incarnations where he needed to be the center of attention) and aggressive Mars conjunct his Ascendant, just inside his 12th house of Karma, and we gain a broader view of the past life challenges he faces.

Resolving this Karmic pattern requires participation in group activities and a commitment to humanitarian causes. A person who adopts these behaviors has the opportunity to assume a role of leadership for the common good.

I'll repeat that last part. If Trump were actually working to resolve this Karma, he could become a leader working for the common good. This is where it gets interesting.

    The Karmic Con

Let's look again at the bi-wheel of Donald Trump's chart and the chart of the birth of our nation. As you can see here I've highlighted how Trump's Saturn (and his Venus, his charisma) are conjunct Mercury Retrograde in the US chart, and opposed to its Retrograde Pluto.

BiWheel Showing Trump's Saturn Conjunct US Mercury Retrograde

It should be no surprise to anyone paying attention to recent media wars that after 250 years the United States has not resolved the collective Karma of its Retrograde Mercury. It is still looking to someone who projects an image of power to tell them what to think.

With Trump's Lord of Karma Saturn intersecting so strongly with the US Retrogrades, it's no wonder he has been able to cast a strong spell on citizens of the US still searching for a personal truth. It does not seem to matter that the person they're looking up to has not resolved his own truth around stepping into leadership for the common good.

It also doesn't hurt that Trump's own Mercury in Cancer is conjunct the Cancer Sun in the US chart. And at the time of the election, Jupiter, planet of luck and opportunity, was conjunct Donald Trump's natal Sun in Gemini, which sits in his 10th House of career, authority, and leadership. Jupiter was Retrograde at the time, conferring the energy of a redo, a second shot at stepping into the role of world leader. Uranus, the planet of surprise and chaos, was conjunct his Midheaven.

So how in the world is a second Trump presidency going to help resolve the collective Karma recently activated by the US Pluto Return?

In today's New York Times, opinion columnist Michelle Goldberg reminds us of an expression attributed to Vladimir Lenin, "The worse, the better." In other words, the political situation must become intolerable before people will come together and do something about it. It's possible that a second Donald Trump presidency and all that it will bring is exactly what's needed for the consciousness of the US collective to say enough! To finally wake up, resolve its Karma, and fulfill its true destiny leading the world in the pursuit of peace and freedom.
