Melania: Avoiding The Spotlight While Living In The Spotlight
First Lady Melania Trump has never been one to relish the spotlight. She was notably absent during her husband's first presidential campaign, only showing up when she wanted to. And she didn't join him in the White House until 5 months after his first term began. She has made fewer appearances than any FLOTUS in recent memory. Her absences have sparked all kinds of rumors, and the media continually asks, "Where's Melania?"
If you were hoping the Melania documentary might help you understand more about the enigmatic First Lady, you will be disappointed. Critics have called the film listless, superficial, and painfully stiff. As producer of the film, Mrs. Trump made sure the narrative was heavily controlled, just as it is in the real world.
So what's behind the First Lady's need to remain unknowable? The answer is found in her oddly distorted ring finger.
Know Thyself
In Hand Analysis, the ring finger is named for Apollo, God of the Sun. In Greek mythology, Apollo was considered to be the most beautiful of all beings. Inscribed in the walls of his temple at Delphi are the words, “Know Thyself”.
In the language of the hand, the Apollo finger is associated with authenticity, with knowing who you are and expressing it freely. Positive manifestation of the finger's traits include creativity, self-acceptance, and warmth. A dominant ring finger would be associated with a soul purpose of Life In The Spotlight.
A healthy finger appears straight, even, and aligned with the rest of the hand. Melania Trump's ring finger is anything but.
Hiding Out
In every photo I could find of Mrs. Trump with her hand in the air, her ring finger appears to be toppling over backwards. When examining the images in high resolution, an experienced Hand Reader like myself would also notice that the finger is set back from the rest of her fingers starting right at the base.
So what does it mean when the finger is falling back away from the rest of the hand? It screams, "Don't put the spotlight on me! I'm afraid to show the real me because you might not like me. I'm afraid I'll be rejected!"
While that may seem strange for someone who once made their living as a model, it's not uncommon for persons who fear rejection to fein indifference. They may create a false persona, wearing a mask to hide their fears. If the mask has been on long enough, they may even feel like a stranger to themselves.
Bent, twisted, short, low-set or otherwise compromised ring fingers can also indicate someone who has become a bit player in someone else's life movie, instead of starring in their own. Sounds a little like the First Lady role, doesn't it?
With such an extreme backwards slant to her finger of self, it's no wonder Melania Trump avoids being on center stage. And when she does make an appearance, she often shields herself under a wide-brimmed hat.
And while she has, when asked in interviews about her absence from public life, stated that she has her own mind, it's likely that her choice to remain a mystery has more to do with self-protection than self-determination.
