Pope Francis and His Soul Mission of Infinite Love

In his Easter message, delivered the day before his death, Pope Francis asked world leaders “...to use the resources available to help the needy, to fight hunger and to encourage initiatives that promote development.” He called these the “weapons of peace” adding that they are the “weapons that build the future, instead of sowing seeds of death.”

He also called for a cease-fire in Gaza.

As a young Jesuit and then a Cardinal in his home country of Argentina, he lived a humble lifestyle, dedicating himself to serving the poor and disenfranchised. Once elected Pope, he eschewed much of the pomp of his office, choosing to wear simple vestments and taking up residence in the guest house rather than the papal apartments. He advocated for the environment, was sympathetic to same-sex unions, and called protecting migrants a “duty of civilization.”

The natal chart of Pope Francis

Born Jorge Mario Bergoglio in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Francis knew from a young age that he wanted to be a priest. A life dedicated to compassionate service is definitely indicated by his natal chart. With his Sagittarius Sun in the 6th house of service, it's no wonder Francis walked the road of humility. His North Node sits 1 degree from his Sun, also in the 6th. I see the North Node in the 6th as the call to mindfulness.

Jupiter in earthy Capricorn explains his tendency for simplicity in fulfilling his religious duties, while Saturn in Pisces tasked him with finding a practical outlet for his devotion, sensitivity, and selflessness..

I'm particularly struck by his Part of Fortune in the 10th House. Here to be an authority in his field, he came into this life to always act with integrity, and to become an example of what can be accomplished when walking one's talk.

Many of these same themes are repeated in the Pope's Soul Plan chart, which is based on the numbers of his birth name, Jorge Mario Bergoglio.

A Chart showing the Soul Plan numerology for Pope Francis (birth name Jorge Mario Bergoglio)

9-9 in the position of Worldly Talents is the number of the peacemaker and the protector. Persons with a well placed 9-9 energy are drawn to service, and and are here to be powerful catalysts for change.

With 12-3 in the position of Spiritual Talents, Pope Francis was born with a storehouse of love to share. He came in not only to be an inspiration to others, but to empower them with his sharing of spiritual knowledge. This is also the number of one who sees beauty in all. Francis often repeated the message that God loves all his children just the way they are.

With 19-1, the number of Philanthropy in both the Worldly Goals and Spiritual Goals positions, we can see that from the moment of his birth, Pope Francis came with with a very strong mission to lift up and empower others.

Similar to the 10th house Part of Fortune in his natal chart, 19-1 is an indicator of someone who is able to stand strong in their convictions, often bucking social proprieties and norms when necessary in order to fulfill their mission of service.

4-4 is the number of radiant abundance. With 4-4 as his ultimate Soul Destiny, Pope Francis was born to share his generosity and kindness, and to express the light of his vision where everyone, no matter their station in life, could experience an abundance of love, spiritual knowledge, and unity.
